NEXT-GEN PRE-ORDER FIASCOS

It’s usually difficult to get a new console at launch, but things with the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S turned out to be a lot more complicated than usual. Given the fact that they launched in the midst of a pandemic, where retail and supply were both constrained due to circumstances out of their control, there were bound to be issues. Specifically where Sony are concerned though, they didn’t really handle the pre-orders for the PS5 very well. After telling people that they would give ample notice ahead of the console’s pre-orders going live, the “ample notice” that they ended up giving was all of… two days. Even with that, retailers decided to kick off pre-orders early, which meant that many people who wanted to get their hands on the PS5 at launch were unable to do so.
