6. Super Mario Bros. – Bowser
Super Mario Bros. was a game that set a lot of thumbs twiddling. There were moments of frustration and panic and then there were times when you gave a random uppercut of joy to no one in particular as you marched through another world in Super Mario Bros. But there can be nothing more appeasing than finally defeating the dragon-turtle Koopa king, Bowser at the end of world 8.
Back in the days, the panicky haste inducing music had bode some evil and then we were finally affronted by the Koopa king, prancing about like a flippant pony spewing fireballs and tossing hammers. Figuring out the pattern of Bowser’s attack and finally proving him craven was probably the most venerable achievement that you could have gotten at the time.
