Kerafyrm – Everquest (1999)
Dubbed “The Sleeper”, Everquest’s “world boss” was content to awaken, kill all players on the server and move on, no matter who stood up to it. Kerafyrm was never meant to be slain…until the Rallos Zek server banded together and brought its health down to a quarter. Following the beast’s despawn – which generated widespread outrage – it was subsequently respawned by developer Sony Online Entertainment and killed in four hours by almost 200 players. Make no mistake though – Kerafyrm’s ability to slay multiple players at once was insane and it took nearly everything to kill him.
