Hideo Kojima has never shied away from pulling the rug from underneath the players’ feet, but he truly outdid himself with The Phantom Pain. You spend the entire game thinking that you’ve played as Big Boss, only to find out right at the end that Venom Snake is actually just a clone. Say what you will about it, but it’s a very brave move by the game and by Kojima.
