DLC OUTRAGE
DLC is something that we take for granted now, to the extent that when games don’t get DLC post-launch, they’re looked at as the exceptions. But back during the mid-2000s when DLC was really kicking off as a market trend, the reception to the concept was very negative. Consumers viewed it as developers and publishers trying to pass off unfinished products as acceptable to release, while the concept of paying extra for piecemeal content (or not-so-piecemeal, in many cases) was something many balked at. Notorious examples like The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion’s infamous horse armour DLC did nothing to help matters.
