Dishonored – Dishonored
What’s worse than Corvo watching as the Empress is assassinated and her daughter Emily was taken away while he’s helpless to do anything? Why, making him re-experience the same agony, again and again, with no way to skip it, of course!
Keep in mind that this isn’t even where Dishonored starts. It begins on a boat as you traverse Dunwall’s waters and steadily walk through the dock to Dunwall Tower, first meeting with Emily. Finally, after some more strolling (and maybe playing some hide-and-seek with Emily, where you can test your stealth skills), you’ll meet Empress Jessamine. After reporting to her, mysterious figures attack, and despite fighting them off, the rest is history.
The game really starts six months later in Coldridge Prison, as a “friend” helps Corvo escape his cell. It’s a good mission that puts those stealth and combat skills to the test. Once again, skipping the first mission (especially when it’s primarily cutscenes and walking) would have been great. If the Empress’s death and Emily’s kidnapping are a given, better to move on and get to the revenge part quicker.
