The dream comes true!
Finally tying this whole feature together and revealing it as a secret argument for Kratos in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, we come to the Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Many strange things happen on Koholint Island, and spoiler alert, it’s all a dream of the Wind Fish, or maybe Link, as revealed in the ending which I’m sure Mr. Nolan stole for his movie. But dreams, as a reflection of reality, comes from somewhere. Which means the appearance of figures such as Chain Chomp, Yoshi and Goombas that Link comes across through his journey are pretty closely connected to the Mushroom Kingdom, even if he hasn’t been himself. I’m sure you would stay out of their territory if diplomatic relations always seemed to be settled with a deathmatch against a magic glove, too.
