4. Kratos

Nobody can really call Kratos the good guy. But we don’t really see him in a bad light because pretty much every thing capable of moving or seeing wants to kill Kratos. So having him splatter their innards and brains doesn’t really bother us. Kratos is brutal; turns out he’s kinda heartless too.

In this particular instance, Kratos has to open a door and he has a number of soldiers entrapped and hanging in cages overhead. The only way to open the door is to sacrifice the soldier. There’s no alternative. The game just thrusts the scenario at us. As Kratos brings down the soldier, he’s grateful but for a mere few moments before he realises what for. With the soldier still screaming and begging for mercy. Kratos goes ahead to perform this seemingly fatuous sacrifice. Some found it so disturbing that a version of the game had a zombie soldier. But that doesn’t change things Sony. Not one bit.
