The Destroyer – Borderlands

Borderlands was a massive surprise when it was originally released. The cell shaded art style, off-kilter humor and zany weaponry offered up hours of fun. The premise was that players took control of a vault hunter, a warrior working to uncover the fabled vault on the planet of Pandora. After dozens of hours, hundreds of quests and thousands of battles the story finally brings player face to face with the fabled vault.

However, the vault did not house riches and fortune but rather a gargantuan monster known as The Destroyer. This idea by itself is great, but the boss battle that followed it was not. The Destroyer is just one massive bullet sponge, soaking up bullet after bullet until it finally gives up. After trekking through such a fantastic adventure, fans were understandably letdown by the boring and tedious final confrontation.
