PocketStation
Sony one-upped Sega on many an occasion with its consoles, out-stripping the Sega Saturn with the PlayStation One’s price and trouncing the Dreamcast with the PlayStation 2. That being said, it did lose out to Sega’s VMU when it tried to introduce its PocketStation. Like the VMU, the PocketStation would integrate with games like Final Fantasy VIII and unlock different features. Sadly, only a few games supported it, which pretty much nixed any chance of a release outside of Japan.
