At the beginning of Fallout 4, the player’s character and their family are some of the lucky few who’ve been “invited” by Vault-Tech to survive and wait out the nuclear war in subterranean vaults. Not everyone else is so lucky, though. While your making your way across to the vault in the opening minutes of the game, you’ll spot a number of your neighbours who’re among those not-so-lucky few. Later on in the game, there will be certain mutated ghouls that you come across, but rather than being called “Feral Ghoul” like all other ghouls in the game are, they’ll have the names of your neighbours from the beginning of the game. Truly, a fate worse than death.
