RESIDENT EVIL 2 (2019)
Resident Evil 7 brought Capcom’s beloved survival horror franchise back from the dead, but with 2019’s RE2 remake, the Japanese developer ended up delivering what may very well be one of the best games in the series’ illustrious history, if not the best. For a series that boasts games like Resident Evil 4, the original RE remake, and of course, the original RE2, that might seem like hyperbolic praise, but that’s just how good 2019’s Resident Evil 2 is. It’s what happens when a remake strikes the absolute perfect balance between being modern and being classic, between sticking to the script and carving its own path. It captures the best aspects of Resident Evil’s many distinct eras and styles and packages it all in a single, spectacular package- one that might not be equaled for some time to come.
