Undoubtedly, FromSoftware will go down as one of the greatest game developers of its time, if not ever, and certainly, there’s no shortage of games in the Japanese studio’s catalog that can prove that unequivocally. For a huge section of its fanbase, no game does that better than Bloodborne. It is, in many ways, a pure distillation of everything that makes the Souls formula work, but rather than slavishly sticking to the script, it dares to have its own identity in more ways than one- and it’s better for it. Its gothic horror setting, its captivating lore, its incredible combat, and of course, some of the best Souls boss fights you’ll ever experience- these are just some of Bloodborne’s many, many highlights.
