Sonic Advance 3
As if mimicking the jump from Sonic 1 to 2, the development team stuck with the winning formula of Sonic Advance 2 when designing Sonic Advance 3. Large levels with well-thought out routes, fast-paced gameplay, gorgeous visuals – it was all still here, even if the tricks were downplayed a bit. In addition to a new hub world, players could choose any two characters among those unlocked to form a team.
When pressing the R button, the second character’s ability could be used. Sonic will provide a speed boost, Tails will lift the other character up and Knuckles can break objects that others can’t (somewhat mimicking Sonic Heroes’ gameplay). Some abilities are only available with certain pairings, further encouraging replay value and exploration. Again, nothing ground-breaking but a continuation of a winning formula that was fun to play.
