Sephiroth was, of course, a major presence all throughout the original Final Fantasy 7, but he never actually made a physical appearance during its Midgar sections. In the remake, he does make an actual physical appearance. We first see him (or, well, a clone being controlled by him) in Shinra HQ, before Cloud fights the actual Sephiroth in the alternate dimension of the Whispers, and later at the place Sephiroth calls “the edge of creation.”
