Day/night cycle
Much like The Elder Scrolls and The Witcher 3– games that Guerrilla Games have admitted to be influenced by- Horizon: Zero Dawn is going to have a proper day/night mechanic. But what kind of a difference will this make? Will enemy encounters- how many of them you encounter, or which of them you get to fight- depending on what time of day it is in the game? Given that stealth will also be a major focus in the game, as has already been shown in some of the gameplay videos, will timing missions according to how dark it is- a la The Phantom Pain– also be a thing? It remains to be seen how meaningful this mechanic will actually be, but again, we remain hopeful.
