FOXDIE (Metal Gear Solid 4)

In Metal Gear Solid 4, Solid Snake possesses FOXDIE, a virus responsible for killing Liquid Snake in the first game. Eventually this kills Liquid Ocelot in the climactic final battle of Metal Gear Solid 4. But why then? Why doesn’t it activate at the docks where Ocelot beats the ever loving tar out of him, even electrocuting Snake in the process? We suppose it only waits for the game to be over before finally working (again, see MGS1).
