If a post-apocalyptic setting isn’t the play, then why not have Sam Fisher in a prequel? It could take place before the first game and detail Sam’s journey before he joined Third Echelon. The ability to tell a new story in a relatively new setting that we’ve never seen is there. Heck, you could even showcase how Sam met his wife or some of his more perilous missions in the Navy SEALs. It could all lead up to his recruitment in the first Splinter Cell so the game doesn’t have to be called “Just Sam Fisher”.
