Regenerating Health Without Shields

In games like Halo 5: Guardians and Borderlands, we can understand the concept of a regenerating shield. After all, it’s the future – surely humanity must have advanced enough to allow shields to effectively regenerate. But what about games with regenerating health which simply let you take cover and heal up, regardless of the number of bullets inside you? While some games have been attempting to subvert this – Wolfenstein, Far Cry 4 and yes, even Destiny (zombies and space magic for the win) come to mind – it’s still something that Call of Duty and Battlefield do without a second thought.
