Here’s yet another amazing Mass Effect villain- probably the most amazing Mass Effect villain. Cerberus head honcho Illusive Man went from teetering on the edge of villainy in Mass Effect 2 to becoming an out-and-out bad guy in Mass Effect 3, but the fact that you never actually got to fight him was a major disappointment. And it’s not like the game didn’t have the chance to let the players do that. Shepard does confront The Illusive Man face-to-face in Mass Effect 3’s finale in a moment that would have been perfect for a boss fight calling back to his encounter with Saren at the end of Mass Effect 1. The fact that that didn’t end up happening will always sting.
