SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: PERSONA 3
Atlus’ Persona sub-series is associated with a very specific style of gameplay, an addictive mixing pot of social simulation, dungeon crawling, and classic role-playing. But it was only with Persona 3 that this gameplay loop was introduced. Prior to this 2006 release, the series was, above anything else, a traditional dungeon crawler, full of idiosyncrasies and hardcore Shin Megami Tensei design quirks that made the games somewhat inaccessible, in spite of their excellent atmosphere and narratives. Persona 3 kept the parts of its predecessors that worked intact, and brought in a number of new elements that added entirely new layers to the experience.
