After two back-to-back genre-defining character action titles in the rebooted Ninja Gaiden series, Team Ninja should have ideally stuck with a winning formula, but Ninja Gaiden 3 came out at a time when far too many games had picked up the annoying habit of streamlining and simpliying themselves to appeal to larger crowds. Out went the first two games’ stellar combat and grueling challenge, only to make way for Ninja Gaiden 3’s shallow and ineffectual mechanics. Needless to say, people were pissed.
