Final Fantasy 2
Squaresoft isn’t messing around in Final Fantasy 2. The story immediately opens with the Palamecia empire invading a small village, setting everything on fire. Firion and friends try to fight back and are immediately slaughtered. Fortunately, they’re saved, join the rebellion and stand up to the evil Palamecians. Right? Well, not quite. The whole world is pretty much against them and that includes hellspawn that the empire is employed. Due to how the character progression works, with party members ranking up attributes from performing different actions – like taking a lot of damage to increase health – it’s very easy for your defense to suffer (until you exploit the system, that is).
