Turns out that Nintendo was making revelatory systems out of old hardware isn’t a very new trend. Launching within the generation that was beginning to push technological boundaries with the Super Nintendo and Genesis, and directly competing against far more powerful competition like the Sega Game Gear. The Game Boy didn’t shine technically like Sega’s offering but Game Boy would prove the old wisdom that “Content is King”. The fact it had the processing power of today’s graphic calculators and the puke green screen to match didn’t matter when phenomena like Tetris and Pokemon Red and Blue would rocket the little grey brick to stardom.
