Depending on the player’s name, it can also manifest as the sprite of a Ghost or Fossil Pokemon. Though it can throw you off the first time, there are certain benefits to encountering it – like increasing the sixth item in one’s inventory by 128. This led to easily farming Rare Candies and other stat boosts. The downside is that it could wipe out saves, though such is the iconic nature of the glitch that it’s still included in re-released versions of Pokemon Red and Blue.
