Pokémon Black Version
I know what everyone is thinking: This is not a rumor. Pokémon Black Version existed. And it does. But not at the time when this rumor and hoax spread. This version of Black was rumored as a modified version of Red/Blue version. And the hoax was a bit weird too. You start off with a standard starter Pokémon, but you also receive another Pokémon called Ghost and it was never allowed to leave the party. Ghost only knew one move “Curse.” But this isn’t the standard curse of current gen Pokémon games. This Curse, when used on attacking Pokémon would turn the screen pitch black; and a low-pitched cry could then be heard. Suddenly the screen came back and the attacking Pokémon was gone! If used against a trainer, the trainer would be left with one less Pokeball. The reason for this? Ghost was killing those Pokémon! How sad! Not surprisingly, this was a creepy, but great hoax.
