Well, of course a Super Mario game was going to have a happy ending. No one ever doubted it wouldn’t- there were no theories going around about the death of Mario, or his fallout with Peach, or something else along those lines. Super Mario Odyssey is a celebration of all things Mario, and its jolliest of jolly endings stands out because it personifies that celebration perfectly. From its entire underground ending sequence with Mario’s face off against Bowser, to how the game ultimately wraps things up in its final moments, Super Mario Odyssey’s conclusion plasters a big, wide grin across your face with every beat- just like the rest of the game, then.
