PERSONA 5

Persona isn’t a series that is ever too afraid to go completely dark, with the first two games having some truly messed up storylines, and the third game ending on a particularly sad note (at least from a micro perspective). Persona 5 itself was also setting things up for the loss of a major character right at the end, putting so many of its main characters on very dangerous paths on several occasions, including the protagonist himself. And for a while, it actually fooled us into thinking that Morgana was a goner. In the end, though, the entire gang managed to survive. Some might say that the Morgana fake-out dampened the impact somewhat, but after an 80 hour harrowing journey, an ending as bright as Persona 5’s felt immensely rewarding.
