Yakuza may have brought Kazuma Kiryu’s story to a close last year with The Song of Life, but the series still has a lot left to say and do. Last year, it spun off into legal dramas with Judgment’s Japanese release, and after a bit of controversy, the game recently released in the West as well- unsurprisingly, it’s an absolute blast. Walking through the streets of Kamurocho and beating thugs to a pulp is as fun as it’s ever been, there’s a plethora of side activities to dive into, the narrative is gripping and the characters extremely well-written, while many of the new mechanics introduce work very well within the series’ established formula- all in all, it’s an excellent trip back into the seedy criminal underbelly of Kamurocho.
