Dark Souls
When Dark Souls first launched, it was a fateful experience. The narrative was bolstered by a hefty amount environmental story-telling so there was a lot of nuance that could be lost on the player. That being said, regardless of how much attention you gave the plot, the game only ended in two ways: By linking the First Flame or not linking it, causing the Age of Dark. There was a short scene showcasing those actions and then the game just ended with no further exposition. We didn’t know the endless cycle that would beget the franchise until later, making this a fairly abrupt end to so much struggle.
