Racing games in particular have always found it hard to properly implement open world settings, but Forza Horizon as a series always seems to know exactly how to do it- and Forza Horizon 5 is the pinnacle of that formula so far. What’s most impressive about it is how it cleverly uses the seasons mechanic introduced in its predecessor in a much more organic fashion, with different seasons bringing about different weather effects that change based on what biome of the world you’re in. There’s always something new and interesting to experience in Horizon 5’s Mexico, no matter how much time you’ve spend driving through its streets.
