The Darkness II

The Darkness was a flawed yet excellent game, but with The Darkness II, it seems as if the devs are looking to perfect the formula. The little that we have seen of the game looks great- not only do the visuals look like a huge leap from the first game, the gameplay also looks much more refined and enjoyable. And even though we have no reason to believe The Darkness II will be a groundbreaking game, we’re looking forward to it more than most of the games on this list.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive needs no introduction. It’s the successor to the amazing Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike: Source. While the beta is currently underway, I’m pleased to say that the game looks amazing, and plays great as well. It’s the classic Counter Strike gameplay you know and love, and the Source engine really shines here.

Far Cry 3

We’ve seen very little of Far Cry 3, but the few minutes of gameplay footage that we have seen look mind blowing. Not only does Far Cry 3 carry forward the legacy of FC1 and 2 of being the best in the genre when it comes to visuals, it also seems to have the same exhilarating, relentless battles and varied, open environments to boast of. We may not know much about it yet, but we do know that simply by the virtue of being a Far Cry game, this is going to be excellent.

Dishonored

Dishonored is an FPS published by Bethesda and made by Arkane Studios. It uses the Unreal Engine 3 and is an open world game. Yes, I know you must be wondering how the hell do you make an open world game with Unreal Engine 3, but it really works as shown by this game. It’s set in the Industrial age and looks fantastic with varied locations like desolate Isles, Pandyssian Continent, and the city of Dunwall.

Metro: Last Light

Metro 2033 was a masterpiece. A flawed masterpiece, yes, but a masterpiece nonetheless. It had visuals to boast of that were matched by very few games, an interesting, engaging premise and great, memorable gunfights. It did have a few flaws, though. Metro: Last light, it’s sequel, looks like it’s going to take everything that made 2033 so good and remove all its flaws. It looks like a great game so far, from what we’ve seen, and we definitely cannot wait to get our hands on it.
