GTA 5’s Toned-Down Melee Combat

Grand Theft Auto 5 - Xbox Series X-S, PS5

In past GTA games, combat feels impactful and it brings with it a sense of brutality when players strike NPCs with a bat or a tight fist. This isn’t the case in Grand Theft Auto 5 where melee combat feels exceptionally toned down. It was made even more apparent when Red Dead Redemption 2 was released, where every punch has weight to it. Hopefully, GTA 6 borrows from RDR 2 instead of GTA 5 when it comes to combat.
