The Time Between Titles is Becoming Too Long

For a long time, GTA games were released in quick succession. GTA 3 came out in 2001, and this was followed by GTA: Vice City which launched in 2002. Not long after, San Andreas came out two years later in 2004, and after this time between titles began to stretch. It took four years for GTA 4 to launch in 2008, and GTA 5 took even longer, launching in 2013. It has been over a decade since the last mainline GTA game which is way too long for fans to wait. However, this is a problem that will probably not be resolved anytime soon as the larger open-worlds necessitate longer development periods.
