KEN KUTARAGI
Ken Kutaragi, often called the Father of PlayStation, changed Sony’s fate with the PS1, but things almost turned out very differently for him. The PS1 only came about as a console when Sony’s collaboration with Nintendo on a disc-based console came to a premature end. That collaboration, in turn, only emerged because Ken Kutaragi was working with Nintendo on the side without Sony’s knowledge, for which he was almost fired. It was only after Sony’s CEO Norio Ohga recognized the potential of Kutaragi’s work and of working with Nintendo that Kutaragi was kept on at the company.
