SUBNAUTICA
Putting you underwater in a survival game is a pretty great way of letting you know that the odds are against you, which is exactly what Subnautica does. There’s plenty of awe-inspiring beauty to go around in Subnautica’s world, but though taking in the sights is obviously a huge part of the experience, so, too, is feeling the panic and claustrophobia set in as you try and eke out an existence in alien and hostile underwater environments. Subnautica is fairly easygoing in terms of difficulty and mechanics for a survival game, but it nonetheless succeeds in evoking a persistent uneasiness in the player.
