Your Actions Don’t Have Consequences

The few times Skyrim allows you to actually make your own choices, it almost punishes you by not acknowledging those choices. You could become leader of the Thieves Guild after stealing a kid’s lollipop, and no one cares. Guards don’t chase you don’t, there’s no bounty on your head, you can’t order your members to steal from other people.

As mentioned before, the civil war is completely pointless. Literally the only difference that manifests in game is that you’ll be seeing more soldiers from whichever side you chose. And whichever side you do choose instantly wins. You can’t be outnumbered in battle, your side’s leaders can’t be killed, you can’t go on the run or form a resistance.
