Factions Don’t Do Anything
Factions in the Elder Scrolls series has always been one of the main stand-outs. They always represented how you played your character. They were like little clubs that you could join and feel like you were a part of something bigger, like you were part of the world.
The guilds in Skyrim, however, never do anything. Much like all the other side quests and the main quests, the leader send you out to fetch something in a cave somewhere, or kill someone. Then, after completing only a handful of quests, each guild is happy to appoint you leader with almost no qualification, and having only known you for a matter of weeks, if not days.
