Wolfenstein is without a doubt one of the most beloved and one of the most important franchises in the first person shooter genre, and it feels great to see its revival going so strong. After some of its more recent outings failed to impress and live up to the high standards that had been set by predecessors such as Wolf 3D and Return to Castle Wolfenstein, MachineGames’ fresh new take arrived in the form of The New Order in 2014 and showed everyone that even after all these years, the franchise is still a force to be reckoned with. With excellent writing, engaging character development and a lengthy, adrenaline fuelled campaign, The New Order had just about everything going for it.

And now its sequel is almost here, and it looks like it’s going to continue all the great things that its predecessor did. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus looks amazing, and it looks set to be yet another thrilling experience. Here, in this feature, we’re going to take a look at fifteen pieces of information that have us incredibly excited about the upcoming sequel.

THE SETTING

Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus

The New Order captured the imaginations of countless people when it launched three years back, and a lot of that was thanks to the game’s imaginative setting. Rather than setting the game during the Second World War as all Wolfenstein games usually were, MachineGames’ take on the series was set several years after the end of the war, in a world where the Nazis had won and had spread their influence and power over majority of the world. The New Colossus is going to continue on that line, naturally, and take players to the United States of America. It should be interesting to see how the game portrays a USA under Nazi rule, and we’re hoping that the strong setting gives birth to a similarly strong narrative.
