METAL GEAR SOLID: PORTABLE OPS
When Hideo Kojima was still at Konami, he often said in no vague terms that any game in the series that he did not develop was not part of the series’ canon. That, as you might expect, meant that all those non-Kojima directed Metal Gear titles got ignored (for the most part) by the masses, and the one that deserved that least was Portable Ops, which also had the misfortune of being a PSP-exclusive game when it released. No, it wasn’t a typical Metal Gear game, and no, Kojima wasn’t directly involved in it, but it was still a hell of a game. Its stealth mechanics were excellent, it looked great, and it had a typically riveting story. That both Kojima and Konami would go on to pretend like the game had never existed in the coming years – especially once Peace Walker came out – was a great, great injustice.
