Ubisoft’s XIII isn’t something you’d see from the company nowadays (or even in the last several years). It’s a cel-shaded first person shooter with about an amnesiac protagonist with conspiracies and a comic book-style presentation (adapted as it was from the graphic novel). Hitting headshots, for example, would trigger inset panels akin to a comic book. With lower sales than expected and average critical reviews, XIII came and went but is due for a revival with the forthcoming remake. Perhaps it’ll strike a chord in the present era?
