The Darkness
Jackie Estacado’s journey of torment started here. After an assassination attempt by his Uncle Paulie, Jackie became endowed with the demonic powers of the Darkness. Aside from dual pistols, the player could unleash a number of gruesome attacks like impaling enemies, creating a black hole and even eating hearts. The game’s ultra-violent tone gelled well with the story, earning it critical praise and over one million in sales. Still, even with a crazier sequel, The Darkness 2 has yet to see any follow-up or revisit in this day and age.
