CONSCRIPT
Billed principally as a survival horror, CONSCRIPT isn’t horror in the sense that there’re zombies lurking for a chomp on your neck. It’s scenario – a World War I traipse through claustrophobic trenches dotted with savage enemy soldiers – could be argued as horrific certainly, but no, what we’re getting at here is CONSCRIPT is survival horror mechanically. Resource management, backtracking, environmental puzzles, navigating complex levels, these blueprint elements straight out of Resident Evil or Silent Hill have been transplanted here to a non-traditional horror setting with aplomb. CONSCRIPT demonstrates that you don’t need to be battling ghosts or the undead for the mechanics of survival horror to succeed.
