Xenogears
For a long time, the story of Xenogears’ development was a myth. The game consisted of two discs, the first providing the RPG adventure that fans loved. However, the second disc turned into a montage of sorts, narrating the events that happened afterwards. Many believed the game was unfinished and Squaresoft had pushed director Tetsuya Takahashi to wrap things up with limited resources. As it turns out, due to the team being relatively young and having to learn alongside development, Xenogears didn’t seem like it would hit the two-year development mark. Square suggested ending things with the first disc’s events but Takahashi intentionally added disc 2 to better flesh out the story and end it in his desired way.
