Engine changes, director changes, story changes, platform changes, name changes – you name it and Final Fantasy 15 has suffered through the same in its 10-year development cycle. Forget the fact that the game at launch was almost nothing like the originally announced Final Fantasy Versus XIII – the current Final Fantasy 15 is not even the same as its launch version. The game’s second half was heavily criticized for its strange plot twists and many other story elements just felt under-developed. Of course, the full story wasn’t just contained in the release or added through updates. Square-Enix also sought to include some within the DLC Episodes, the Kingsglaive film: the Brotherhood anime and so on. Nevertheless, support for the game today is incredibly strong with more updates to come.
