The War Z

Initially, The War Z had trouble securing a trademark for its name due to similarities with Paramount’s World War Z film. Eventually rebranded as Infestation: Survivor Stories, The War Z initially gained notoriety for baiting and switching consumers. Though it entered open alpha in October 2012, it would release in full just two months later, missing numerous advertised features like multiple worlds, PvE content, private servers and much more. This resulted in its removal from Steam, though Infestation: Suvivor Stories would later make it back. In the interval, The War Z continued to create controversy with pay to win microtransactions, censorship on the Steam forums, hacking of databases and official forums and much more.
