Papers, Please is the sort of game that can be made to sound like the worst, most boring idea on paper, but in execution parts genius twists on those ideas to make for a product that ends up being way more compelling than it has any right to be. Playing the role of an immigration inspector and checking the documents of people coming across the border doesn’t sound like something anyone would want to do for basically the entire game, but Papers, Please ingeniously turns it into a deeply engaging activity that you simply can’t tear yourself away from.
