Silent Hill 2 is often considered one of the greatest horror titles, thanks to the variety of ways the game explores the damage of protagonist James. And the creators of the game to this day have not outlined that there’s a single cannon ending to the story, instead stating that “There are so many real endings for each player”. Wether James killed his wife Mary, how he responds to it including suicide or getting together with Maria, or even a silly dog or UFO ending can happen based on the player. The game itself is designed to leave questions about what’s real, and what is Silent Hill making James pay for?
