Minecraft
In retrospect it was impossible to predict the future importance of Minecraft whilst its early versions were floating around circa 2009. With no funding and a solo developer only able to chip away at the project on weekends, Minecraft started small with little to no expectation it’d reach even a modicum of the success it enjoys now. Fast-forward and Microsoft are now its owners, there’re numerous spin-offs, merchandise deals aplenty, and a movie releasing in 2025. A steady stream of updates through unwavering commitment from Mojang propelled Minecraft to superstardom, with astronomical sales beyond any other video game.
