Coming a short year after its predecessor Left 4 Dead 2 received severe backlash from the community of Left 4 Dead players who felt Valve were unfairly monetising on success to rush a sequel; a sequel, they felt, would have better served the community as an update. The truth is Left 4 Dead was developed too quickly, releasing in a state no developer at Valve wanted to correct. A sequel built from the ground up was the path they chose. And what a sequel; lauded as one of the best co-op horde shooters there is, even to this day some 15 years later.
